About Us:
Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective is proud to offer a premium and personalized martial arts training experience. While we certainly take BJJ seriously, we do our best not to take ourselves too seriously. What exactly does this mean? While other Jiu-Jitsu academies might feel intimidating or cater exclusively to competitors, we take a different approach.
Beginners and casual learners are not only welcome here, but fully embraced.
We want Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective to be a home away from home, a haven for new BJJ students. Therefore, if you’ve ever felt discouraged to try martial arts, our instructors are equipped and ready to ease you into training. Teaching modern techniques in a casual and tight-knit environment, we promise to take care of every individual who steps onto our mats. After a short time with us, you’ll learn the joy and long-term positive impacts that BJJ can bring.
Our History:
Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective founder Eric Ham is thrilled to bring a new and unique BJJ training experience to Austin, Texas. Nearly a decade ago, Ham started his Jiu-Jitsu journey in Denver, Colorado. While training under Andrew Dudderar and Jason Cox, he immediately fell in love with BJJ. As time went on, Ham’s dedication and passion continued to grow and develop.
Immediately after receiving his blue belt, he dove into the world of coaching that ultimately led him to create Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective.
With a knack for developing beginners, Ham is ready to instill new BJJ students with the same spark he once felt. He himself continues to actively train and grow his knowledge set. This relentless love for Jiu-Jitsu is reflected in his instruction and training environment. For Ham, it boils down to one simple philosophy: teaching others the way he would want to be taught.
