Training Philosophy

Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective was founded under a single unifying principle, to teach how we would like to be taught.

The prospect of starting Jiu-Jitsu can be a daunting one. And we pride ourselves on taking all goals, skill levels, and motivations, under our deepest consideration. Now that you’ve taken the important step of deciding you’d like to start your grappling journey, a perhaps more intimidating obstacle presents itself. where to train? Here in Austin you’ll find the gamut of training opportunities. From so called “hobbyist” gyms, to academies with a self-defense focus, all the way up to professional gyms where the top competitors in the sport train. Each of these options has its positives and negatives and depending on your goals and scheduling considerations, one of them may be the perfect place for you.

However, what all these options lack, and what sets us apart at Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective is an intimate and personalized training experience.

That is not only unavailable in the greater metro area but is a rarity in the Jiu-Jitsu community as a whole. The ways in which we achieve this and guarantee a premium and personalized training experience for our students are simple. We cap our memberships, as well as our class sizes in order to ensure a private lesson ambiance even in our busier sessions. Additionally, we accommodate our scheduling to ensure everyone in our membership base has an ample opportunity to train. And Finally, we are strategic and discerning in our membership selection to uphold our most important core value. To teach how we would like to be taught. Which means, maintaining a healthy ecosystem in which to train our students to get the most out of their Jiu-Jitsu journey.
